# #10.Journey to DSA in C++

Today I explored, Counting Sort and Radix Sort in the context of Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA), and understood their concepts and techniques.

## Counting Sort:

First ,let me explain the concept and technique of counting sort

**Concept:** Counting Sort is a sorting algorithm that works well when you have a limited range of integer values to sort. It doesn't make comparisons between elements; instead, it counts the number of occurrences of each element and places them in the correct order.

**Techniques:**

1. **Find the Maximum Value:** To start, find the maximum value in the array. This helps determine the range of numbers to be sorted.

2. **Counting Occurrences:** Create an auxiliary array to count the occurrences of each number. For each element in the original array, increment the count in the auxiliary array at the index corresponding to the element's value.

3. **Update the Count Array:** Modify the auxiliary count array to store the cumulative count of elements. This step ensures the correct position of each element in the sorted array.

4. **Build the Sorted Array:** Create an output array and place elements in their sorted order by referring to the cumulative count array.

**Advantages:**

* Counting Sort is incredibly fast and efficient when dealing with a small, fixed range of integers.

* It is a stable sort, which means it preserves the relative order of elements with equal values.

**Limitations:**

* It's not suitable for sorting general data, such as strings or floating-point numbers.

* The range of values must be known and small.

## Radix Sort:

Now let me explain the concept and technique of radix sort

**Concept:** Radix Sort is a non-comparative sorting algorithm that works particularly well with integers or strings. It sorts elements by examining individual digits or characters, starting from the least significant digit or character to the most significant.

**Techniques:**

1. **Find the Maximum Value:** Just like in Counting Sort, you need to find the maximum value in the array or string. This helps determine the number of passes required.

2. **Passes Through the Data:** For each pass, sort the elements based on a specific digit (or character position) from the least significant to the most significant. You can use any stable sorting technique for these passes.

3. **Repeat the Passes:** Continue the passes until you've sorted all digits or characters, starting from the least significant to the most significant.

**Advantages:**

* Radix Sort is efficient for sorting data with multiple digits or characters, such as integers or strings.

* It's a stable sort and preserves the relative order of elements with equal values.

**Limitations:**

* It's not suitable for sorting data with a wide range of values.

* The algorithm can be less efficient when dealing with a large number of elements or very long strings.

Both Counting Sort and Radix Sort are invaluable tools in a programmer's toolbox. Counting Sort is like a ninja in its efficiency for specific scenarios, while Radix Sort is the wizard that can sort multi-digit or multi-character data with elegance. Understanding these sorting algorithms enriches your problem-solving skills and equips you to tackle diverse challenges in the realm of DSA.
